My Quarter Collection

Salam/ peace be upon you,

Ever since being told by my roommate about the variety of US state quarters, I started collecting them. There are 56 of them in total, representing each one of the 50 states in the US plus 6 territories (i.e. Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, etc.). You can read more about them here and here. It is interesting to note that about US$ 3 billion have been taken out of circulation due to the collection of the state quarters from 1999 (the 1st series) to 2008 (the final series).

The quarters

So far, I’ve collected about 40 of them. And yeah, working as the cashier at the ticket booth helps. A LOT. lol. But don’t get me wrong, I changed them with the dimes and pennies that I have.. :)

Collecting the quarters help eased the boredom of sitting at the counter waiting for customers. I love my customers. Yeah seriously. Most of them are nice and I love talking to them. Some are pretty rude but lucky that the good ones outweigh the nasty ones. Hence, when there’s no one coming to my window I get bored pretty easily.

Collection list as of last week

Wish that I can finish collecting them before the program ends! :D

Till then, see ya!

*Updated at 7/19/2011 –>

  1. I just need 7 more states to complete my collection; Indiana, Mississippi, Maine, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Guam.
  2. I’m no longer working at the ticket booth starting this week. Gonna start my job as a ride operator tomorrow.
  3. My roommate went back to Hong Kong already, yesterday.
